Anderson Silva vs. Uriah Hall targeted for UFC 198

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

Uriah Hall has been compared to Anderson Silva. Now, he'll likely get to fight him.

A bout between Silva and Hall is targeted for UFC 198 on May 14 in Brazil, sources told MMA Fighting. Sherdog was the first to report news of the bout. The UFC has yet to make any kind of official announcement.

UFC 198 will take place inside a soccer stadium in Curitiba, Silva's hometown. The promotion has never done an event there until now. Reports have stated that Silva wanted on the card.

Silva (33-7, 1 NC), a legend of the sport and former middleweight champion, is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 84 last month. Some thought Silva won that fight and he nearly knocked Bisping out at the end of the third round. That was the Brazilian's first bout back from a one-year steroid suspension. Before that, Silva had beaten Nick Diaz at UFC 183 in January 2015, a fight that is now listed as a no contest due to the failed drug test.

"The Spider" is one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time. At one point, he won a record 16 UFC fights in a row, including a record 10 title defenses. Silva, 40, owns wins over the likes of Dan Henderson, Vitor Belfort, Forrest Griffin and Chael Sonnen.

Hall (12-6) was compared to Silva after a dominant string of knockouts on The Ultimate Fighter 17. "Prime Time" is coming off a loss to Robert Whittaker in November. Prior to that, he knocked out Gegard Mousasi and Oluwale Bamgbose. Hall, 31, is one of the most dangerous knockout artists in the division, while Silva is one of the most dangerous KO artists of all time in any division.

UFC 198 is headlined by a heavyweight title fight between champion Fabricio Werdum and Stipe Miocic. In the co-main event, Belfort will take on Ronaldo Souza. The card is a loaded one with Demian Maia vs. Matt Brown and Mauricio Rua vs. Corey Anderson also on the slate.
