UFC Fight Night 84 live blog: Gegard Mousasi vs. Thales Leites

This is the UFC Fight Night 84 live blog for Gegard Mousasi vs. Thales Leites, a middleweight bout at Saturday's UFC event at the O2 Arena in London.

Mousasi, who has won three of his past five fights, will face Leites, who has won four of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Marc Goddard is the referee. Leites runs Mousasi into the fence and is trying a variety of body lock takedowns that so far haven't worked. Leites pulls guard, but Leites is back on Mousasi as the Armenian stands. Now they separate. Both fighters exchange right hands, but only Mousasi's landed. Now Mousasi is working behind the jab and leg kick. Leites reaches for a double, but backs off as soon as Mousasi stuffed it. Mousasi blocks another reaching double from Leites. Now Leites pulls guard again, but to no avail. Mousasi lowers his level and lands a right, but the Brazilian responds with a responsive hook.

Round 2: Leites eats a right as he tries to bullrush in. Leites is stuffed on a takedown attempt and eats a knee to the body as Mousasi exits. Nice one-two from Mousasi finds the mark. Dueling hooks off a missed cross nearly scores for both. Leites is bleeding from the nose as he eats jab after jab and then a left hook lands. Mousasi going back to inside leg kick and jab as he ups the intensity just a bit. Mousasi lands another left hook and then stuffs the Brazilian's single leg attempt. Stiff jab scores from Mousasi and then a right hand finds the mark. Leites just flops on a double and Mousasi backs away.

Round 3: Leites pulls guard again after a failed takedown attempt and he's working an open guard with an overhook. Mousasi doesn't play in the decorated BJJ player's guard and stands out when the overhook is released. Mousasi catches a kick and nearly throws Leites to the canvas, but instead lands a right as the Brazilian moves forward. Another failed double from Leites. Two decent winging left hands score for Leites and now Mousasi is backing up, but Mousasi slows the fight down and starts to manage range again. Two one-twos score for Mousasi and he's pulled into Leites' guard after another failed double.  Mousasi's on top now for a time in half guard, now in open full.
