Eduardo Dantas was looking to get his Bellator bantamweight title back at Friday’s Bellator 150 in Kansas, but he will have to wait a little longer as champion Marcos Galvao was forced out of the card due to illness.
Bellator announced on Thursday that Dantas made weight inside Kansas Star Arena at 10 a.m. CT, but the promotion decided to pull "Loro" from the fight after consulting physicians. The title fight will be rescheduled in the near future, Bellator announced in a release. Dantas was paid his show money.
This is the second time a rematch between Dantas and Galvao had to be cancelled. The former teammates were slated to meet last October, but "Dudu" was forced out of the bout with a rib injury. They fought for the first time in 2013, when Dantas defeated Galvao via second-round knockout.
A heavyweight clash between Cheick Kongo and Vinicius Queiroz, initially booked for the co-main event, was elevated to the main event spot. David Rickels vs. Bobby Cooper is the new co-main event, with Kendall Grove vs. Francisco France, Gaston Reyno vs. Chuka Willis and Lena Ovchynnikova vs. Rebecca Ruth completing the main card.
