Morning Report: Dana White defends Ronda Rousey's coach from her mother's criticism

The disdain Ronda Rousey's mother has for the former champ's head coach is well documented.

Dr. AnnMaria De Mars spoke out against Edmond Tarverdyan even prior to Rousey's upset loss at UFC 193 to Holly Holm. De Mars didn't even travel to the fight in Australia as a form of protest. Rousey has stated she intends to stick with Tarverdyan moving forward and UFC president Dana White seems to be in full support of that call.

"It's a tough situation," White told TMZ. "She has a lot of respect for her mom. She loves her mom. She wouldn't be where she is today without her mom. It's a tough situation for her. Listen, if you look at what she's done to get to where she is today and then you lose one fight, it's easy to dissect one fight and say somebody made a lot of mistakes. Look at what she did before [her loss to Holm]. Nobody is talking about that."

Speaking with Submission Radio earlier this month, De Mars said she predicted her daughter to lose to Holm and insisted that Rousey needs to fire her "idiot, fraud" coach for any chance to win a rematch.

"What her mom talks about is that '[Ronda] was that good when she walked into the gym,'" said White. "She wasn't a mixed martial artist. She was a judo Olympian. Her mom is badass. Her mom was legit. Her mom started training her and then she trained with other people. I don't know the whole Judo world but Ronda was a legit athlete walking into the sport and then became a mixed martial artist. The best mixed martial artist in the world."

Holm makes the first defense of her title to Miesha Tate March 5 at UFC 196. Rousey is expected to face the winner of that bout in November.
