Ed Ruth is returning to the Bellator cage much sooner than we thought.
The 26-year-old wrestling standout will be replacing an injured Davin Clark on one-week notice to fight Italy’s Emanuele Palombi at Saturday’s Bellator 168 in Florence, Italy. The bout between Ruth and Palombi will be contested in the middleweight division. The news was announced by the promotion on Wednesday via a press release.
Ruth made his MMA debut last month at Bellator 163 where he defeated Dustin Collins-Miles via first-round technical knockout. Ruth has a decorated wrestling background as he was a three-time National Champion and four-time All-American wrestler at Penn State University. He now trains MMA out of Fresno, Calif. at Dethrone MMA with fellow Bellator fighters Josh Koscheck and Chris Honeycutt.
Meanwhile, his opponent, Palombi, has a professional MMA record of 5-2 with four finishes. The 24-year-old fighter is currently on a three-fight winning streak, competing in Italy’s regional MMA circuit.
