UFC Fight Night 102 medical suspensions: Gian Villante, five others out indefinitely

UFC light heavyweight Gian Villante highlighted a list of six fighters to receive indefinite medical suspensions in the aftermath of UFC 206, according to information the New York State Athletic Commission released to MMA Fighting on Wednesday.

Villante scored a second-round TKO victory over UFC newcomer Saparbek Safarov in a back-and-forth contest that claimed ‘Fight of the Night' honors and opened the event's main card. Villante will now be required to receive commission clearance for damage sustained during the bout or be forced to remain on the sidelines indefinitely.

Along with Villante, five other fighters were handed indefinite suspensions by NYSAC due to injuries incurred during the event: Andrew Sanchez, Trevor Smith, Shane Burgos, Frankie Perez, and Keith Berish.

UFC Fight Night 102 took place at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. Hard-hitting heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis defeated Shamil Abdurahimov via fourth-round TKO in the night's main event.
