UFC Fight Night 101 bonuses: Robert Whittaker earns $100K with TKO over Derek Brunson

Joshua Dahl-USA TODAY Sports

Things couldn't have gone better for Robert Whittaker at Saturday's UFC Fight Night 101.

Whittaker extended his winning streak to six in a row in his adopted home country of Australia, defeating fellow rising prospect Derek Brunson in his first main event bout under the UFC banner.

On top of that, Whittaker will be taking home an extra $100,000 in Fight Night bonuses. The 25-year-old middleweight earned two $50,000 bonuses, one for Performance of the Night and another for Fight of the Night. With this win, Whittaker is now 17-4 as a professional fighter.

His opponent, Brunson, who was the other half of the equation to make the bout Fight of the Night, is also taking home $50,000. His loss snapped a five-fight winning streak for the North Carolina native.

The other $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus, went to Australian Tyson Pedro. The UFC newcomer earned his bonus by submitting Khalil Rountree in the first round on the main card. Pedro remains undefeated with five professional wins on his record.
