Oddsmakers set Nate Diaz, Tyron Woodley as most likely next opponents for Conor McGregor

Who will Conor McGregor fight next?

That is the ultimate question in the wake of McGregor's historic second-round knockout victory over Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205. And according to betting lines that opened Wednesday, oddsmakers believe McGregor is more likely to revisit his trilogy with Nate Diaz or seek a third UFC belt at welterweight than take on top contender Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Oddsmakers at Bovada gave Diaz (+175) and UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley (+300) the inside track to the McGregor sweepstakes, listing the two as favorites to earn the next shot at the sport's biggest star. Just behind them was Nurmagomedov (+400), the feared Russian lightweight who carries a sterling 24-0 record, and Jose Aldo (+500), the interim UFC featherweight champion who would be the mandatory next defense of McGregor's featherweight title.

McGregor, 28, became the first fighter in UFC history this past Saturday to be crowned champion in two separate divisions concurrently when he decimated Alvarez to capture the UFC lightweight strap at Madison Square Garden in New York. The popular Irishman is expected to take some time off into 2017 for the upcoming birth of his first child, but is already demanding equity in the UFC upon his return. And who that return could be against is anyone's best guess.
