NEW YORK — Conor McGregor is fighting one champion and almost got into it with another Friday.
McGregor, the UFC featherweight champ, and welterweight titleholder Tyron Woodley had a confrontation at UFC 205 official weigh-ins here at the Affinia Manhattan hotel.
After both weighed in, they ended up together at the rehydration table next to the stage, getting water and other assorted nourishments. Woodley said "what's up?" to McGregor and McGregor stared him down hard. McGregor did eventually say "what's up?" back. It was very tense.
Woodley explained his viewpoint on the situation later Friday morning on Twitter. "The Chosen One" said McGregor "tried to flex" on him, but then realized he was in a "no flex zone."
@arielhelwani I said what's up then he tried to flex. Quickly he realized it was a NO FLEX ZONE Pretty much made him say what's up! JS

@arielhelwani Some of us are really about that that life! The quiet ones are the ones really from the slums. Don't make me go back.

Of course, McGregor responded on social media, telling Woodley he'll do nothing about it.
@TWooodley @arielhelwani Twitter bitch you'll do nothing

McGregor faces lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez in the main event of UFC 205 on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden. He's attempting to become the first UFC fighter to hold two titles in two different weight classes at the same time. "The Notorious" has fought at welterweight before and said Thursday at the press conference that he wants "all the belts."
Meanwhile, Woodley defends the welterweight belt for the first time against Stephen Thompson on Saturday in the co-main event.
The Twitter beef continued Friday morning.
