Sage Northcutt vs. Mickey Gall scheduled for UFC on FOX 22

Hair vs. hair or not, Sage Northcutt vs. Mickey Gall is happening before the end of the year.

Northcutt will meet Gall at UFC on FOX 22 on Dec. 17 in Sacramento, ESPN reported Thursday. UFC officials confirmed the bout on Twitter. The two have been exchanging barbs on social media and in interviews ever since Gall called out Northcutt — and his blonde, spikey hair — after beating CM Punk at UFC 203 last month. The fight will take place at 170 pounds.

Northcutt (8-1) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Enrique Marin at UFC 200 in July. "Super Sage" has been promoted heavily since being discovered by UFC president Dana White on his "Lookin' for a Fight" reality show. Northcutt, just 20 years old, is 3-1 in the UFC since debuting in October 2015.

Gall (3-0) is also a product of the "Lookin' for a Fight" program on UFC Fight Pass. White and company discovered him last year when Gall called out CM Punk following his first pro win. White liked what he heard and signed Gall, who had to beat Mike Jackson back in February to earn the shot against Punk. Gall beat Jackson by first-round submission with a rear-naked choke and did the same to CM Punk at UFC 203.

Gall, 24, called Northcutt "corny" in his post-fight interview that night and vowed to knock the spikes out of his head. Northcutt fired back on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani last month.

"I think just him going in and fighting two guys that had no fights — I think they were both close to 40 years old, too — it's almost like fighting someone's dad that only trained very little for a fight," Northcutt said. "It was definitely interesting if you think of it that way."

No other fights have been booked for UFC on FOX 22. The event will take place at the brand new Golden 1 Center, the home of the Sacramento Kings. The UFC has not been to Sacramento since UFC 177 in August 2014.
