'The Wire' star Idris Elba fights in kickboxing debut

Stringer Bell has a pretty solid right hand.

Idris Elba, the 44-year-old actor best known for his memorable role on The Wire, made his professional kickboxing debut this weekend at London's York Hall. Footage of the bout comes by way of Madonna, because if course it does, and Elba doesn't look half bad. Check out the video below.

A part-time DJ as well as an actor, Elba has starred in a slew of roles across both television and film, including spots in Thor, Luther, Beasts of No Nation, and Pacific Rim.

Of late, he has been training across the world for a three-part documentary series on Discovery Channel that delves into the roots of Muay Thai and kickboxing. The series, entitled Idris Elba: Fighter, is expected to air in early 2017.

Cutting weight, two days before first fight, mind in the right place. Fear NO guy.
