Muhammed Lawal will be moving up to the heavyweight division to meet Satoshi Ishii in the main event of Bellator 169.
The news was first reported by Severe MMA, and was later confirmed by the promotion on Wednesday.
Lawal will be returning to action after his loss to Phil Davis back in May at Bellator 154. That loss snapped a seven-fight wining streak for the 35-year-old fighter. This won't be Lawal's first time moving up from the light heavyweight to the heavyweight division, as he's previously fought heavyweights Cheick Kongo and Mark Kerr. He also competed at Rizin's Heavyweight Grand Prix in 2015, which he won.
Meanwhile, Ishii is currently on a two-fight losing streak with his last loss being against Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson at Beallator 157 back in June. The Japanese fighter is 14-6-1 as a professional fighter, and holds notable victories over opponents such as Jeff Monson, Pedro Rizzo and Tim Sylvia.
Bellator 169 is set to take place in Dublin, Ireland on Dec. 16. This event will also be a collaboration between Bellator and BAMMA, where both promotions will put on two separate shows on the same day and in the same arena – the 3 Arena.
