UFC 191 live blog: Jan Blachowicz vs. Corey Anderson

This is the UFC 191 live blog for Jan Blachowicz vs. Corey Anderson, a light heavyweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Blachowicz, who is 1-1 in the UFC, will face Anderson, who is 2-1 in the UFC, on the main card.

Round 1: Third man in the cage is Herb Dean. First fight in US for Blachowicz. Blachowicz immediately to center, and Anderson lets go wit ha flurry, but he doesn't have the range yet. Leg kick from Blachowicz, as Anderson circles. Left hook twice from Blachowicz misses. High kick from the Polish fighter just as Anderson committed to a punch, that hits. Blachowicz moves in and throws wildly, and clipped up Anderson a little bit. They exchange again in the middle, and Anderson got the better of the exchange at center. Blachowicz stalking, and now clinches. Lot of pressure from Blachowicz, as they go to the fence. Anderson tries to heave Blachowicz's body but can't, and instead Blachowicz takes Anderson down, and immediately to side control. Can't hold him there, as Anderson gets back up. Anderson deking and moving, and now dishes out a left hand before ducking low for a takedown attempt. They go to fence, with Anderson still fishing for a single-leg. So far Blachowicz fending, but can't do it for long — he goes down. Anderson in Blachowicz's guard. Trying to room up so he can land, but so far Blachowicz is got his limbs cinched in close. Limb tangle. And now Blachowicz rolls for an arm, and that looks dangerous for a minute, but he doesn't have it. They stand. Blachowicz to center, as Anderson circles. Left jab from Anderson finds a home, and now Anderson moves in with clinch and punches on fence. Blachowicz looks a little tired as round ends. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Anderson, 10-9.

Round 2: Anderson's corner (Mark Henry, Ricardo Almeida) liked what he was doing in that first. Beastin 25/8 circles, and he's looking for an opening. Kick to the body from Blachowicz, and Anderson grabs a single leg in a wild sequence, and he gets Blachowicz down. For a moment he was vulnerable to the triangle, but now Anderson in Blachowicz's guard, trying to posture up. He has some room, and he's landing elbows. Big shots from Anderson. Anderson very poised in Blachowicz's guard, and he's coolly executing some ground & pound. They spin to the fence, as Blachowicz is breathing deeply. Postures up, and another big shot from Anderson. Good damage here. He's sapping Blachowicz of his energy. Anderson relentless. Again posturing up despite the wrist control from Blachowicz, and another right hand slams home. Blachowicz can't get up off his back. Anderson gets up, and he lands a couple of big shots while on his feet against the supine Blachowicz, and jumps right back into his guard. A USA chant breaks out in Vegas; very original. More ground and pound, as Blachowicz looks like he has no idea how to get up. Acute elbows to the head from Anderson, and then a shot to the body. Big shots, nasty looking shots from Anderson. All Anderson this round. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Anderson, 10-9 (20-18 overall).

Round 3: Blachowicz out of his corner, and Anderson immediately shoots for a double-leg takedown. He gets it, while Blachowicz looks for a kimura. Full guard now, and Anderson right back to work. Anderson stands, and kicks at the thighs of Blachowicz, and now jumps back into his guard. Some swelling on Blachowicz's left eye. It's a mauling on the ground, even if Anderson isn't able to put him away. Just one-sided for Anderson, as he steps over into half guard. Anderson trying to get side control, as he continues smashing his elbows and fists into Blachowicz. Now volume, as Anderson sees an opening on the side. Anderson gnashing his elbow into Blachowicz's brow, and then he gets room to land bigger elbows. Anderson stands up, and again, after landing a shot or two on the still flat Blachowicz, he jumps back on top of him. All Anderson. Anderson cutting off Blachowicz's already heavy breathing by covering his mouth with his palm. Finally Blachowicz scrambles, but he gives up his back, and Anderson is looking to snatch his neck. Can't, and they stand. But Anderson takes him right back down. Frustration for the Polish fighter, who has nothing for Anderson. This thing ends with Anderson wailing away on top.
