Vitor Belfort is once again surrounded by controversial drug test results, after Josh Gross reported on Monday that "The Phenom" has failed a drug test with elevated levels of testosterone before his UFC 152 clash with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
According to the report, the UFC was aware that Belfort failed a drug test before the championship fight, but never disclosed the results to the public. The fight went on, and Jones defended his title with a fourth-round keylock.
A day after the report was published by Deadspin, the UFC and Belfort have not responded for comments, but a fellow MMA fighter has decided to use the news to attack the promotion and one of its biggest stars.
Cris Cyborg campaigned for years for a catchweight bout with bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, but the UFC champion would only agree to fight at 135 pounds since the Brazilian has failed a drug test in the past. In wake of another failed test by Belfort, Cyborg has fired shots on her Facebook page.
Hmmmm...somebody tests positive for steroids BEFORE fighting for a UFC World Championship, but is still allowed to fight, and it takes almost 3 years before the public finds out?
Open your eyes!
I am clean, and am willing to prove it with a year of Olympic Testing before any fight, I wonder if the current UFC champion at 135 is willing to agree to the same?
what do you mean? some are crucified and others are not even mentioned!
Rousey is currently slated to defend her title against Holly Holm on Nov. 14 in Australia, while Invicta FC has announced recently that Cyborg will cut down to 140 pounds for her next bout in November.
