Results from UFC Fight Night 71 come back clean after CSAC record amount of drug tests

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

The California State Athletic Commission did more tests than it has ever done for an MMA event. And all athletes came back clean.

CSAC executive officer Andy Foster told MMAFighting.com on Tuesday that every fighter from UFC Fight Night: Mir vs. Duffee tested negative for performance-enhancing drugs as well as recreational drugs.

The event took place July 15 at Valley View Casino Center in San Diego. Foster said there were 16 out-of-competition tests done, at least 20 WADA menu tests on fight night and as many as six carbon-isotope ratio (CIR) tests taken. The state of California has never implemented as many drug tests on one single MMA card.

UFC Fight Night 71 featured Frank Mir defeating Todd Duffee by first-round knockout. In the co-main event, Tony Ferguson bested Josh Thomson via unanimous decision.
