Neil Magny took a a seven-fight win streak into UFC 190 and was looking to make a statement in the welterweight division.

Little did he know, though, that he was stepping into Professor Demian Maia's jiu-jitsu classroom. The 37-year-old Maia schooled Magny, finishing him in the second-round of their Saturday night bout in Rio de Janeiro.

"I came here for you to show the best I can in the martial arts," said Maia (21-6), who scored his third consecutive victory.

Maia scored a quick takedown to start the opening round and spend the remainder of the ground dominating Magny on the ground. Maia flustered Magny with fluid transitions and was working for an armbar when time expired in the round.

There was no such issue in the second round, as Maia again got Magny to the mat. He used ground and pound to get into position to take Magny's back, where he got the submission via rear-naked choke at the 2:52 mark.

"I saw the space, I know he's tough, his neck is tough, but I used all my power," Maia said about the setup for the winning move.

With the end of his win streak, Magny dropped to 15-4.
