Robbie Lawler likely needed a KO/TKO to win at UFC 189.
Lawler was losing on all three scorecards in his welterweight title defense against Rory MacDonald in the co-main event Saturday night. Judges Adalaide Byrd, Derek Cleary and Sal D'Amato all gave MacDonald the first, third, and fourth rounds for a 39-37 edge for MacDonald.
Lawler kept his belt with a fifth-round TKO.
