Bellator seems to be pointing Paul Daley right toward a welterweight title shot.
"Semtex" will make his return to the cage against Dennis Olson at Bellator 140 on July 16 at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Conn. It's the same card that will be headlined by Douglas Lima defending his welterweight belt against Andrey Koreshkov.
Daley (36-13-2), a UFC and Strikeforce veteran, is one of the best pure strikers at 170 pounds in the world. In his first fight in Bellator since 2012, the Englishman defeated Andre Santos via unanimous decision back in February. Daley, 32, was supposed to fight Lima for the title on that card, but Lima had to pull out with an injury. Overall, the brash knockout artist has won nine of his last 11 fights.
Olson (14-8) will be making his Bellator debut after defeating Jarod Lawton by split decision on a New England Fights card in April. This will be a huge step up in competition for the New Hampshire native, who has been a pro MMA fighter since 2006. Olson has one fight in Bellator, a unanimous decision loss to Dan Cramer in 2010. He does own a win over noted MMA diet guru Mike Dolce.
Along with the welterweight title main event, Bellator 140 will be co-headlined by a welterweight feature bout between top prospect Chris Honeycutt and seasoned veteran Paul Bradley. Also on the card, the always exciting Michael Page returns against Rudy Bears and Brennan Ward meets Gavin Sterrit.
