The Notorious Conor McGregor vs Jose Scarface Aldo

maxresdefault.0.jpgWe are right around the corner from one of the most anticipated fights of the year, UFC 189 long time UFC featherweight Champion and P4P #1 Jose Aldo takes on The Notorious knockout machine Conor McGregor.

There are many ways I can break this fight down so I shall just stick to the basics.

Striking. Oh boy two unbelievable striking assassins with their own unique styles. Jose Aldo the traditional, explosive Muay Thai based striker with some of the most thunderous leg kicks in the business going toe to toe with an elusive, unorthodox, power punching magician also with his own deadly kicking arsenal.

Jose has a traditional solid Muay Thai base, great boxing, great round house kicks to the legs, body and head all behind explosive power a record of 25-1 with 14 KOs/TKOs 10 coming in the first round. Conor's unusual movement that is rarely seen, crisp, technical and powerful boxing mixed with crazy kicks from hook kicks to 360 tornado kicks a record of 17-2 with 15 KOs/TKOs 12 in the first round.

Two main aspects that I think will play a major role are, 1, Jose's leg kicks and will they be a major factor, however I think Conor being a southpaw and Jose having history with a broken foot that will play a major role? 2, Conor's boxing and power, will Aldo be in trouble early? Please feel free to post your thoughts.

I have the striking at 50-50

Wrestling. From what I've seen Jose Aldo has some of the best takedown defense in the entire UFC. He has a very solid base and his vicious knee's make that best wrestlers extremely cautious. Conor has also showed very solid takedown defense, not shown as much and often as Jose's but its certainly been shown. Conor also has a freakishly solid base, as evident from his training methods etc. his center of gravity and base is up there with Jose's.

Obviously the big question, will there even be any takedowns attempted in this fight? At first thought, both have dislike for each other and the tension is palpable. Will the ego's of both men make way for a back and fourth brawl on the feet? Do both men just want a vicious KO victory, as striking is both their strong suits? This certainly could be the case but In my opinion both guys are very intelligent with high fight IQ, if a takedown presents itself, you better believe both will jump at that opportunity. Let me know your thoughts on the wrestling.

I have the wrestling at 55-45 Jose Aldo.

Jiu Jitsu. Now, I think its safe to say Jose Aldo is the more accomplished Jiu Jitsu practitioner with some solid notable wins. Jose is a black belt under André Pederneiras, he also has a black belt in Luta Livre Esportiva under Marcos Ruas. Conor has recently been promoted to brown belt under John Kavanagh after his fight with Dustin Porier. Jose only has 2 wins via Submission, Conor just the one.

In my opinion I see this aspect very close giving Jose the slight advantage, from what I've seen from Conor's ground game in a few fights and in training videos, its very solid and getting overlooked by many people. I think the biggest chance of a submission being locked in is if one fighter gets dropped and something like a guillotine or triangle is snatched, I don't really see either go for takedowns or even if a takedown is landed, them being held down.

I have Jiu Jitsu 55-45 Jose Aldo.

Conclusion. This is just a rough conclusion, I'll go into more aspects in other articles, but basically I think this fight will be taking place on the feet, takedowns will be stuffed, blood will be drawn. If Aldo finds early success with leg kicks and boxing, the fight will steer dramatically in his favor, If Conor checks kicks and lands his punches I see it either being an early night for Aldo or a repeat of what his face looked like after the Mendes fight. I also think Conor's reach and height will play a major factor, also his incredible feel for distance. I'm picking Conor McGregor by KO in round one or a Savage round by round beating.

Please feel free to post your thoughts on the fight, the individual aspects of their game and who you are picking to win. This is my first time writing an article like this, the layout and different nick nacks are a little confusing, excuse any typos. All comments are welcomed.I'm also going to be posting more often and you shall see a few more articles about UFC 189 from me.

Also take note. I'm not underestimating Jose. I go into every fight with a few key aspects. Never underestimate anyone. No one is invincible. Anything can happen at anytime. Never underestimate a fighters will to rise to the occasion.
