UFC 188 live blog: Kelvin Gastelum vs. Nate Marquardt

This is the UFC 188 live blog for Kelvin Gastelum vs. Nate Marquardt, a middleweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico in Mexico City, Mexico.

Gastelum, who is 10-1 in his career, will face Marquardt, who has lost four of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Gastelum is stalking early and probing with low kicks. Marquardt is trying to find a home for right straight, but eats a left hand early. Good right by Marquardt connects as the two clinch. Hard one-two, however, from The Ultimate Fighter winner finds the mark. Good body shot from Marquardt in response. The two jockey in the clinch, but neither can get a takedown. A couple of good jabs for Gastelum find the mark. Gastelum gets low on a double, turns the corner and puts him down. Marquardt gives his back and Gastelum has both hooks in. Marquardt escapes, but eats hard jabs as they stand. Gastelum lands a left hand and Marquardt is hurt, but survives.

Round 2: Gastelum comes out with hard inside leg kicks. They briefly clinch, but separate, but Gastelum connects on a left straight, right hook combo. Gastelum backs Marquardt up against the fence. He eats knees to the body and drops on all fours. He falls to his back, but Gastelum is all over him. Marquardt turtles and Gastelum is still crushing him from behind. Marquardt granby rolls and goes to guard. Marquardt turtles again and is surviving, but he's doing nothing. Marquardt now rolls for a kneebar, but Gastelum escapes.
