Jon Jones has broken his silence.

On Tuesday night, the former UFC light heavyweight champion made his first public comments since allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run car accident Sunday morning. Jones tweeted that he had "a lot of soul searching" to do.

The UFC stripped Jones of the belt Tuesday night in the wake of his felony arrest on charges of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injury, it was reported on FOX Sports 1. UFC president Dana White also said Jones would be suspended indefinitely.

Jones, 27, allegedly ran a red light Sunday morning while driving a rented silver Buick SUV in Albuquerque, striking another car and igniting a three-car collision, according to the police report. He is being accused of leaving the scene, but only after going back to the vehicle and grabbing a handful of cash. The victim, Vanessa Sonnenberg, suffered a broken arm, per the arrest affidavit.
