UFC 186 live blog: Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi

This is the UFC 186 live blog for Demetrious Johnson vs. Kyoji Horiguchi, a flyweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Johnson, who has won seven straight fights, will face Horiguchi, who has won nine straight fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Yves Lavigne is the referee in charge. Both fighters open orthodox. Johnson taking center and switching stances, which forces a right hook over the top. Horiguchi scores with a body kick. Inside leg kick scores for the American. Johnson whiffs on a low single, but backs out without much issue. Horiguchi lands a body kick, but Johnson catches the kick and forces him into the fence. Johnson backs away without much issue. Two right hooks lands and he leve changes, scoring the double. Horiguchi stands after about a minute of being controlled and they move to the center. Johnson eats a hard inside leg kick. Decent body kick from Horiguchi again.

Round 2: Southpaw, Johnson lands a right hook and a knee. Horiguchi connects with a knee, but Johnson catches him and stops the subsequent takedown attempt. Horiguchi trips Johnson to the mat, but Johnson stands a few seconds later. Johnson times a double and nails it. Horiguchi stands, but eats a knee on his way up. The Japanese challenger stands again, but eats a partially blocked head kick and is taken down again. He stands again and AGAIN Johnson takes him down. Horiguchi eventually stands again, but eats a right hand and is dragged to the mat from behind.

Round 3: Johnson's in southpa and drives on a double, but can't get get the angle. Horiguchi lands an inside leg kick, but Johnson's diving on his legs just moments afterwards. Johnson eats a right hand, but picks up Horiguchi and slams him to the mat as he charges in. Johnson knee cuts to side control. Horiguchi squirms underneath, but can't get much of anything going.

Round 4: Body kick from Johnson, but he backs off a takedown attempt. He secures a body lock as Horiguchi moves forward, but can't take the Japanese fighter down. Johnson's back on him looking for a single and can't get it, but tries again and does. Horiguchi gets his back to the cage, but eats a knee to the chest for his efforts. Finally, he's able to stand and eats an inside leg kick. Johnson is back on a single against the fence. Horiguchi fails on a takedown attempt and looks like he's winded and reacting.

Round 5: Johnson gets the takedown almost immediately and passes. Horiguchi gets to his base, but Johnson is getting to the Japanese fighter's back. He can't quite do it and they separate. Johnson is back on him and immediately passes after scoring a double. Johnson proceeds to take him down over and over, hitting an x-pass and nearly takes the back, but Horiguchi is just scrappy enough. He moves to mounted crucifix. Horiguchi rolls to a hip, but leaves an arm exposed. Johnson snatches it and catches it. He gets the tap at the literal last second.
