UFC 186 live blog: John Makdessi vs. Shane Campbell

This is the UFC 186 live blog for John Makdessi vs. Shane Campbell,  a catchweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Makdessi, who has won three of his past five fights, will face Campbell, who is making his UFC debut, on the main card.

Round 1: The referee in charge is Philippe Chartier. Both sides open orthodox and Campbell wings a heavy outside leg kick. And now one to Makdessi's body, who is now southpaw. Makdessi attempts a single along the fence, but can't get it. Campbell going back to the body kicks as Makdessi circles the outside, blood already on his face. Campbell back to orthodox and he cracks the lead leg of Makdessi, but 'The Bull' cracks him with a right hand and stuffs a takedown attempt. Campbell, however, gets absolutely cracked and dropped against the cage. Makdessi unloads on him, yet somehow the fight isn't stopped and Campbell hands on. He tries for a takedown, but can't get it. Campbell misses on a right and gets absolutely drilled with another right hand. Makdessi unloads again and this time it's stopped.
