Jimy Hettes' gruesome ear injury forces early stoppage opposite Diego Brandao at UFC on FOX 15

UFC featherweight Jimy Hettes was visibly upset his UFC on FOX 15 bout opposite Diego Brandao was stopped after the first round, but the injury to his left ear did just that. Brandao was able to take Hettes down and land a series of crushing elbows, one or several of which sliced open Hettes' left ear. The gash allowed blood to pour out during the round, but it wasn't until the round expired and the ringside physician inspected it that the bout was eventually called off.

The end came officially at 5:00 of round 1.
