Gilbert Burns upset with Josh Thomson over Instagram photo

Gilbert Burns is not very happy with "The Punk."

Brazilian grappler Lucas Leite posted a photo on Instagram on Sunday night of a no-gi session, and Thomson was in it three days after pulling out his UFC Fight Night 62 contest with Burns. The former Strikeforce champion even posted a comment on the photo, calling it a "great training".

"I was upset when I saw that photo of him training," Burns told MMAFighting.com. "It’s complicated, but I don’t blame him. Going to Brazil to get beat up in front of that crowd putting some pressure over him, pay high taxes and lose one more fight, risking getting cut from the UFC. He made a mistake by getting out of the fight, but it happens."

According to Burns, Thomson contacted the UFC and asked to cancel the fight after he got knocked out in training.

Burns now meets "Cowboy" Oliveira at UFN 62 in Rio de Janeiro on March 21, but hopes to fight the American Kickboxing Academy lightweight one day.

"I’m focused on this next fight," he said. "‘Cowboy’ is a tough fighter, he’s coming on a good win streak. I’m focused on him now, but I hope Josh and I get the chance to fight next. We never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, but I think we will meet one day."

"Durinho" guarantees that the change of opponents less than a month before the fight won’t affect his game plan. The Blackzilians prospect compares Oliveira to his training partner Ryan LaFlare, who headlines UFC Fight Night 62 against Demian Maia.

"I was helping Ryan train for his fight with Demian, and ‘Cowboy’ fights like Ryan," Burns said. "Everybody is pretty much complete today. I believe ‘Cowboy’ will try to keep it standing, Josh wouldn’t mind fighting me on the ground. My game plan is going to be the same, though. I’m going there to knock him out. But if the fight goes to the ground, I’ll fight to submit him."
