Invicta FC headed back to Kansas City on April 24, to feature strawweight title bout

Esther Lin, Invicta FC

Invicta FC will head back to its hub town of Kansas City, Missouri. On Friday, the promotion announced a fight card for April 24 at the Municipal Auditorium.

Invicta 12 will feature a strawweight title fight between champion Katja Kankaanpaa and Brazilian Livia Renata Souza. The Finnish fighter Kankaanpaa (10-1-1) won the title back in September at Invicta FC 8 against Stephanie Eggink. Souza (7-0), meanwhile, will be making her promotional debut with Invicta. Her latest victory came against Camila Lima in September. As a Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist, six of her seven victories have come via submission.

For Invicta, which hosted its first eight events in Kansas City beginning in April 2012, this will make a return home. Since Invicta 8, the all-women's promotion has visited Davenport, Iowa, Houston and, most recently, Los Angeles for Cyborg Justino versus Charmaine Tweet.

The fight card will stream exclusively on UFC Fight Pass.
