Welcome to episode 124 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat.
Say it ain't so, Andy. After an out-of-competition drug test in January, it appears former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has tested positive for not one, but two different anabolic steroids. The revelation is and should be shocking to most, fans and media alike. It's not that we don't accept a fair number of fighters in mixed martial arts are using, but to have the man many regard as the greatest fighter ever to pop - and to do so at the end of their illustrious career - is upsetting.
Of course, Nick Diaz isn't without his own issues, albeit far more minor. He failed a post-fight drug test for marijuana. This marks the third time he has done so in his career, all three times in Nevada. As far as infractions go, that's nothing compared to Silva's issue, but could still have a big impact on his career.
All of this bookends the crazy month of January 2015. We'll take a look back at all of it, from the very good to the disappointingly bad.
