This is episode 126 of the Promotional Malpractice Live Chat.
This might be one of the most important weeks in the history of the UFC. No, there isn't a big pay-per-view or apparel deal or some other business venture that proves how far the world's leading mixed martial arts promoter has come.
Instead, it's about tackling the problem of weight cutting and, more specifically, performance-enhancing drugs. UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC President Dana White are set to hold a press conference today to allegedly announce plans on what they are going to do to combat the problem currently in the sport and among fighters in their organization.
What will they do? No one is sure. They could announce a continuation of current policies. On some level, they are undeniably working. On the other hand, they might decide working with a third-party testing agency is the best course forward.
No matter what, we'll have the first reaction to it all when we start an hour later than normal.
There's a lot going on, so join me today to discuss all of this and more. In terms of today's chat, anything is up for discussion, but I will lead with this and it all kicks off at a special time of 2 p.m. ET.
As is customary, I'll post the video window here as the event draws near and I'll answer any questions you may have if you post them in the comments section below. Be sure that you click the 'rec' button for those comments/questions you believe most deserve a response.
