World Series of Fighting (WSOF) will make its promotional debut in Tennessee on Jan. 23rd at The Theater at FedExForum when The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) and UFC veteran Mike Ricci takes on former Strikeforce lightweight Caros Fodor. The promotional made the news official via release on Monday.
Ricci, 29, is riding a three-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming inside the WSOF's lightweight division. Ricci faced Joe Condon in November at WSOF 25, winning via headkick KO at just 2:41 into the first round. His overall record stands at 11-4.
Fodor, 31, has won three of his last four, all of those recent bouts taking place inside the ONE Championship cage. He last fought in September of 2014, defeating Vincent Latoel via rear-naked choke in the second round. Fodor is a six-fight veteran of Strikeforce and fought once in the UFC, but only once and dropped a split decision loss to Sam Stout. Fodor was released from subsequently released from the promotion.
In the co-main event of WSOF 27, Teddy Holder will face undefeated Shamil Gamzatov in a light-heavyweight contest. Holder rose to prominence after besting former UFC light heavyweight Thiago Silva on late notice at WSOF 19 in March 2015. Holder would follow up that performance with a loss to WSOF two-division champion David Branch via first-round submission at WSOF 24 in September. His record stands at 9-2.
Gamzatov, 25, is an unbeaten Russian prospect with a perfect record of 9-0. This bout will mark both his U.S. and WSOF debuts.
