The seventeenth installment of the UFC on FOX franchise pulled in 2.28 million viewers in overnight ratings, according to TV By The Numbers. In terms of adults 18 to 49, they scored a .9 rating and 3 share, putting them second overall on the night in their time slot. The Democratic national debate on ABC won the night across the board, both in terms of total viewers as well as in key demographics.
The overnight ratings for UFC on FOX 17 are both in line with the previous UFC on FOX event (2.29 million viewers) as well as previous UFC on FOX events in December (UFC on FOX 13 earned 2.27 million viewers).
The overnights measure the 8-10 p.m. time slot in the Eastern time zone, and its corresponding 7-9 p.m. in Central time zone and 6-8 p.m. in the Mountain time zone. However, it also measures 8-10 p.m. in the Pacific time zone, and as a live sports event, the show aired starting at 5 p.m. on the west coast. This rating measures whatever programming the local FOX stations were airing from 8-10 p.m. and not the UFC.
The final numbers, which would be for the entire show nationwide, will be out on Monday or Tuesday. That number should be somewhat higher, however, it's unclear how much given the main event only lasted a minute and six seconds.
UFC on FOX 17 took place at the Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida. In the main event, UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos successfully defended his title against Donald Cerrone, winning by first-round TKO.
