The UFC's return to Pennsylvania is filling out.
Middleweight standout Roan Carneiro will meet fellow contender Derek Brunson at UFC Fight Night 82 on Feb. 27 in Pittsburgh, the UFC announced Tuesday. Also on the card, Brandon Thatch will take on the returning Siyar Bahadurzada.
Carneiro (20-9) has won six straight, including his UFC return against Mark Munoz via submission at UFC 184 back in February. The Battlegrounds MMA one-night, eight-man tournament winner has not lost a fight since 2011. Carneiro, 37, is in the midst of his second run in the UFC.
Brunson (14-3) has won three in a row, including the last two by first-round TKO. The JacksonWink MMA product beat Sam Alvey in 2:19 in his last fight in August. Brunson, 31, only has one UFC loss and it came against Yoel Romero. His most recent loss after that was against another elite middleweight in Ronaldo Souza.
Thatch (11-3) has lost two in a row and has not competed since falling to Gunnar Nelson by first-round submission in July. Bahadurzada (21-6-1), a native of Afghanistan, has not fought since losing to John Howard at UFC 168 in December 2013.
Five other fights were added to the Pittsburgh card as well Tuesday. Veterans Joe Riggs and Chris Camozzi will square off, Trevor Smith takes on Leonardo Augusto Guimaeres, Shane Campbell faces James Krause, Anthony Hamilton meets Shamil Abdurakhimov and Sean Strickland fights Alex Garcia.
No main event has been set for UFC Fight Night 82 as of yet. On Monday, a potentially exciting bantamweight bout between John Lineker and Cody Garbrandt was announced. The UFC has not been to Pittsburgh since 2011.
