February 6's UFC 196 fight card is loading up early.

The UFC today announced a heavyweight main-event rematch between Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez to take place on the Super-Bowl-weekend showcase. Werdum previously defeated Velasquez at UFC 188 in Mexico City to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world. Prior to the loss against Werdum, Velasquez won the heavyweight title from Junior dos Santos in December 2012 and defended it twice.

Werdum, meanwhile, has won six straight since coming back to the UFC in February 2012, defeating Roy Nelson, Mike Russow, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Travis Browne, Mark Hunt and Velasquez during that stretch.

In addition to this heavyweight championship tilt, the UFC also announced a high-profile welterweight matchup between Johny Hendricks and Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson for the event.

Since losing the welterweight title to Robbie Lawler at UFC 181, Hendricks owns a victory over Matt Brown at UFC 185. "Bigg Rigg" was scheduled to face Tyron Woodley more recently in October at UFC 192 but could not compete after suffering complications during his weight cut leading up to the event.

Thompson will come into the fight with Hendricks on a five-fight winning streak, most recently knocking out Jake Ellenberger via spinning hook kick at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale. "Wonderboy" was scheduled to face Neil Magny at UFC 195 in Las Vegas, but those plans were aborted after Magny filled in on late notice against Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night 78. Magny won that fight via decision.

Filling out the UFC 196 fight-card announcements are a heavyweight matchup between Roy Nelson and Jared Rosholt, a lightweight matchup between Josh Burkman and KJ Noons and a welterweight matchup between Mike Pyle and Sean Spencer.
