Jake Ellenberger vs. Tarec Saffiedine, three other fights added to UFC on FOX 18

USA Today Sports

It's been a while since fans have head from Tarec Saffiedine. He'll be back early next year.

The welterweight contender will meet Jake Ellenberger at UFC on FOX 18 on Jan. 30 in Newark, N.J., it was announced Wednesday on UFC Tonight.

Three other bouts were also announced for the event, which will be headlined by a light heavyweight contender fight between Anthony Johnson and Ryan Bader. New Jersey native George Sullivan will meet Alexander Yakovlev, Olivier Aubin-Mercier takes on Joaquim Silva and Felipe Olivieri faces Tony Martin.

Saffiedine (15-4) has not fought since a third-round TKO loss against Rory MacDonald in October 2014. Before that, the 29-year-old Belgian kickboxer had won five in a row between the UFC and Strikeforce. The last Strikeforce welterweight champion has only lost to MacDonald and Tyron Woodley over the last six years.

Ellenberger (30-10) has had a rough go over his last few fights. Overall, he has lost four of his last five fights. Ellenberger, 30, is coming off a first-round knockout loss to Stephen Thompson in July. The Los Angeles resident does have a win over Josh Koscheck at UFC 184 on his recent docket and his losses have all come against top welterweights.

UFC on FOX 18 marks the UFC's second FOX card in Newark in nine months. UFC on FOX 15 took place this past April at Prudential Center.
