Fabricio Werdum-Cain Velasquez rematch could be moved to Super Bowl weekend

Could a heavyweight title rematch headline the UFC's Super Bowl weekend card in Las Vegas?

The company hoped to place the bout between champion Fabricio Werdum and two-time former champion Cain Velasquez on a March outdoor show in Curitiba, Brazil.

But MMAFighting.com's Ariel Helwani reported on Wednesday's of UFC Tonight that there have been snags in finalizing the deal, so the UFC is now looking at making the match the main event of UFC 196 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas.

Werdum took the title from Velasquez in a stunningly one-sided fight at UFC 188 in Mexico City in June. Werdum won via third-round submission due to a guillotine choke. Velasquez was coming off a layoff of nearly two years heading into the bout.

While the Brazil show has yet to be formally scuttled, UFC sources indicate the move to Las Vegas will be made if the deal isn't finalized soon.
