WSOF releases Brian Cobb following his withdrawal against Mike Ricci

After his second consecutive withdrawal in WSOF, Brian Cobb (20-8) has been released by the promotion, according to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.

The 35-year-old fighter was scheduled to compete against Mike Ricci in the opening round of WSOF's eight-man lightweight tournament. Cobb withdrew from the competition due to undisclosed reasons.

Prior to his WSOF 25 withdrawal, Cobb was schedule to fight Jonathan Nunez in the co-main event of WSOF 17 back in January, but the day before the event Cobb injured his knee on the treadmill causing him to withdraw from the fight.

Cobb last fought on June 14, 2013 at WSOF 3 against current WSOF lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.
