UFC announces next event in Australia, which takes place March 19 in Brisbane

With the Australian media still abuzz for hosting one of the most historical events in UFC history, the question as to when the promotion was planning to make its next visit came up all week long.

On Saturday night, after breaking an attendance record with over 56,000 people through the gate for UFC 193 in Melbourne, UFC president Dana White announced during the post-fight press conference that the promotion already had a date circled for its next event in Brisbane.

"Yeah, it's March 20, 2016," White said. "March 19 in the U.S.A."

All week long White has praised the Australian fans, after finally taking the Octagon to Melbourne. The UFC has now hosted two events in 2015 on the continent, the first having taken place in Adelaide back in May. That was a Fight Night event.

UFC 193 was the third pay-per-view to take place "Down Under," the first being UFC 110: Nogueira vs. Velasquez in 2010, and the second UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch in 2011.

The last time the UFC visited Brisbane was in 2013, when Mark Hunt and Antonio Silva fought to a majority draw in one of the greatest heavyweight fights in UFC history.
