Anthony Perosh has been around Australian mixed martial arts long enough to see it go from the underground to giant stadiums in Melbourne.
But it might not be the worst idea if Perosh rides off into the sunset at this point.
The 43-year-old from Sydney was on the wrong end of a one-sided matchup against Gian Villante on Saturday at UFC 193. Villante one via a one-punch knockout at 2:56 of the opening round in a light heavyweight bout at Etihad Stadium.
Villante, a slugger from Long Island, went with his bread and butter from the get-go, landing early and often. A big right hand caused Perosh to face plant and the fight was waved off.

Villante (14-6) won for the third time in the past four fights, but said he wasn't happy with his performance.
"I'm a little disappointed in my performance, he deserves all the credit in the world," Villante said after his ninth career KO/TKO victory. "I want to do better, wasn't happy with it, improvement but I have a long way to go."
Perosh (15-10) has lost two straight and three of four.
