The big UFC 193 event is just days away at this point. UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey returns to the Octagon to defend her title against Holly Holm. The card overall isn't that great, but the main event features MMA's top star while the co-main event features the UFC's least-know champion, but one who should be appreciated. Is this her breakout moment? Will Rousey's halo effect extend to Joanna Jedrzejczyk? We'll break it all down.
In other news and notes, WADA issued a report slamming what they see as widespread and systemic abuse by Russian authorities and athletes to use PEDs for athletic competition.
More fighters than ever (it seems like) are retiring. It could all just be a coincidence of timing, but it raises some interesting questions about fighter pay, injuries, and more.
Last, but not least, the Reebok deal continues to pay dividends in the form of bad PR. Ramsey Nijem has said without sponsors, there's no way to make a living in the UFC. Some concerned Polish citizens are concerned about the representation of their country's representative symbols and legendary soccer player Ronaldo has cut ties with UFC athletes for an inability to draw.
