Eduardo Dantas’ injury will force 135-pound champion Marcos Galvao out of Bellator 144 after all.
"Dudu", a former bantamweight champion, was slated to rematch "Loro" in the main event of Oct. 23’s card in Uncasville, but has sustained a rib injury in training, the promotion announced on Wednesday.
MMAFighting.com has learned with sources close to the situation on Wednesday morning that Joe Warren was in conversation to replace Dantas in a trilogy bout against Galvao, but the promotion has decided to postpone the bantamweight title fight.
With the change, a clash between former champion Brandon Halsey and Rafael Carvalho for the vacant middleweight title will now headline the show at the Mohegan Sun Arena.
The co-main event is Brennan Ward vs. Dennis Olson, while Isao Kobayashi vs. Goiti Yamauchi and Michael Page vs. Charlie Ontiveros complete the main card.
