HOUSTON -- If nothing else, credit Shawn Jordan for his toughness.
Jordan went the distance in a heavyweight fight against Dagestani kickboxer Ruslan Magomedov in a heavyweight bout on Saturday in which he spent most of the bout serving as target practice.
Magomedov used kicks of all sort to methodically pick at Jordan throughout the fight at Toyota Center en route to a unanimous decision. The judges' scores were 30-27, 29-28, and 30-27.
Magomedov (14-1) set the tone early by patiently using front kicks to parry Jordan and slowly wear him down. While the first round was reasonably close, Jordan began to slow by the second, as a cut left eye gave him trouble.

In the third, it was academic. Jordan had both eyes swollen after one exchange in which Magomedov landed a pair of head kicks, as the American Kickboxing Academy fighter cruised to the finish.
Magomedov improved to 3-0 in the UFC with his ninth straight victory. Jordan (18-7) had a three-fight win streak snapped.
