UFC 192 live blog: Ryan Bader vs. Rashad Evans

This is the UFC 192 live blog for Ryan Bader vs. Rashad Evans, a light heavyweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Bader, who has won four of his past five fights, will face Evans, who has won three of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: The return of Rashad Evans after two years. Big spot here for Bader, too, who is in line for a title shot. Referee for this one is Herb Dean. Here we go. Rashad out of his crawling stance, and they stand in front of each other. Bader with a high kick, and Bader a leg kick return. Bader very active in movement early. Big overhand right form Bader whifs. Rashad perhaps trying to fight through some ring rust. High kick from Bader, and Bader comes in with a fluid right to left. Rashad tried to counter inside, but didn't land flush. Bader doing a good job getting in and out of there. Body kick from Bader, and Bader comes in low looking for a takedown. Rashad easily avoids that. Evans tries his own overhand right, and misses. Bader slams home a sneaky little punch, and he's been landing that right. Bader very active, and he's moving. So far it's his momentum. Evans trying to time something out, with his right hand cocked and ready to spring. He lets it go there and lands the right on Bader, and Bader vexes him with a counter flurry. They are waving jabs at each other, both trying to set up the business ends. Evans with a great combo there, and they clinch. On the break Bader lands an elbow. Big overhand right from Evans, and that glances off of Bader, who returns fire. Solid first round there from both, but Bader might have done more with his feints and footwork. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Bader, 10-9.

Round 2: They touch gloves. Again, Bader moving, trying to keep Evans off balance. Bader hits him with a right hand and then follows with a left. He's been springing that on Evans a lot. Side kick from Bader. Evans a little tentative, and his coach at Blackzilians, Henri Hooft, is letting him know. Bader drops down and shoots — big takedown of Evans! He has his back as Evans scoots up back to his feet. Bader all over him, and takes him right back down. Evans against stands, but Bader is all over him. They break. Evans unloads a huge right hand that had a lot of menace on it, but he misses. Bader doing a great job of making his chin elusive. Right hand from Evans! That lands. Evans eye is swelling up, but he's staying on Bader now who is wheeling around the fence. Evans with a heavy leg kick, and that temporarily hurt Bader. Bader returns a leg kick of his own. Bader lands a punch to the body. Evans now the one pushing forward, trying to size up a big shot, an equalizer, to make it his own. Instead Bader slams home two right hands right off of a clinch. Evans being outclasses in close. Evans with a takedown attempt now, but nothing doing. Bader is feisty, landing and happy to scrap. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Bader, 10-9 (20-18 overall).

Round 3: Evans eye is pretty messy, very swollen. See how that affects him. Bader attacks it right away. Rashad is pressing forward anyway, and forcing Bader to fight off the cage. Nice left hand from Evans lands, but not a lot of mustard on it. Left hook from Bader that he can't pick up with his eye shutting. Bader definitely targeting it. Evans lands a combination there, and Bader gets back on his bike. Bader in control, and looks like he might be on his way to yet another decision victory. Evans is making it hard though. He presses into Bader, and is roughing him up on the fence. Elbow from Bader on the separation. Nice combo from Bader, and he lands a heavy body kick into Rashad at the end of it. Right hand from Evans, who now lowers for the takedown, yet that's thwarted. On the break, Bader lands a wicked elbow before hightailing it out of there. He's been good at that this whole fight. Right hand from Bader lands, and a jab too. High kick from Evans is partially blocked. Urgency here from Evans is needed, and he is pressing forward, he just can't get much rolling. Bader with a takedown of Evans, perhaps to solidify this as his round, but Evans right back up. Bader single-legging, but nothing doing at bell.
