UFC 192 live blog: Shawn Jordan vs. Ruslan Magomedov

This is the UFC 192 live blog for Shawn Jordan vs. Ruslan Magomedov, a heavyweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Jordan, who has won three of his past five fights, will face Magomedov, who has won eight straight fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Referee is Kerry Hatley. They touch gloves, a high ten. Now Jordan is moving in, and Magomedov lands a head kick (partially blocked). Magomedov backs away, and again lets a kick fly. Jordan doesn't seem overly concerned with Magomedov's power here. Stalks forward. Now Jordan throws a half-punch, but ties Magomedov up and pushes him into the fence. Huge height advantage for Magomedov it seems, but the anvil Jordan has 30 pounds on him. They toil, with Jordan controlling — and now he goes for a double leg, and gets Magomedov to the mat. Magomedov is sitting with his back on the links, and Jordan is trying to methodically pry himself enough room to land something big. Magomedov inching his way back up, and Jordan — the ex-LSU fullback — drops him back down again. Jordan with Magomedov's ankle, and just leaning his hulk into him. Slow, sludgy stuff on fence. As Magomedov stands again, Jordan lifts the single-leg again. Now Magomedov trying for a kimura, but Jordan casually spins away, and they separate on the feet. Jordan ducks in and tries to swing leather, but Magomedov is light on his feet. He rolls along fence. Magomedov doing a good job staying out of Jordan's wheelhouse. Jordan more than happy to stand in the pocket. Magomedov lands a couple of punches, but Jordan seems nonplussed. Jordan plods forward, and Magomedov continues to roll around. Crowd booing. Round 2: Jordan's corner wants him to kick Magomedov when he stands two feet in front of the kick. Jordan said he believed his rib was broken. They resume. Jrodan moves in throwing leather, but he gets positively lit up with counters from the weaving Magomedov. Jordan moves in again, and slams home a nice kick, and now he drops for a takedown. They are on the fence, and Jordan is now with his back on the links. Magomedov separates and lets fly three good punches, which all land. Jordan not the quickest head movement here. He moves in again, and he is trying for the takedown...Magomedov fends this one off, using the cage for support. Jordan relentless, though, leaning his big frame into the lank Magomedov. As they break, Magomedov grazes Jordan with a high kick, which may have skimmed his eye. Jordan wincing. Jordan moves low, and Magomedov blasts him with a swift combo. Jordan is walking into — and through — punches, but he's losing on points perhaps. Jordan's eye is bleeding. Jordan also begin to breathe very deeply, showing fatigue. Left hook from Jordan lands, and he sinks low again, pressing Magomedov into the fence. Magomedov coolly rolls Jordan around, and they toil. In the clinch, nice knees from Magomedov. They separate. They high five at the horn, and the crowd continues to boo. MMA Fighting scores R2 for Magomedov, 10-9 (20-18 overall).

Round 3: Jordan's corner asking him to cut angles, to cut off the cage. They shake hands for the third. A lot of reverence. High kick from Magomedov, then right hand from Jordan, who ducks and presses again. Magomedov with Jordan's neck, more for support and to thwart. Jordan trying to insist on single-leg, but so far Magomedov up for it. He turns Jordan around, and on the break Magomedov lights him up again. This time with a right. Both eyes appear to be cut on Jordan, he is having a hard time navigating himself. Jordan drops his hands and dances, and Magomedov comes forward, landing kicks. Magomedov is the more tactical here, and he has been. He's allowing Jordan to be the aggressor and then punishes the aggression. He lets go a nice kick again, and those have been there all night — beautiful, fluid kicks. Jordan is a beast, though, and he keeps stalking forward. Midway through. Not the most visually pleasing fight, but when Magomedov has room, he does work. Jordan can't get in to land the big shot. He presses again, though, and they go to fence. Jordan trying to get a takedown, and that's not working. He might now have the stamina to pull that off. Magomedov turns him around and once again, on the break, Magomedov lands a kick. He's been owning that separation space, as Jordan can't meet the speed he's been throwing. Still, Jordan — perhaps out of fatigue — presses again. He lands an elbow. A series of jabs from Magomedov, and Jordan rolls out of that range. Jordan just can't get anything going, as Magomedov lands a straight kick to his midsection. And another. That's it.
