Rory MacDonald: If Georges St-Pierre comes back, he's more interested in 'superfights' than title

With former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre hinting at a return the Octagon, his name is being brought up a lot in the last couple of weeks. And with his Tristar Gym training partner Rory MacDonald sitting in on a Q&A in Dublin on Friday as part of UFC Fight Night 76, you knew he was going to get asked about it.

At first when MacDonald was pressed on the subject, he played coy with the idea of St-Pierre's return, saying "I don't know sh*t."

Later on, however, a fan asked the 26-year-old MacDonald a hypothetical: If St-Pierre came back and recaptured the 170-pound belt first, would MacDonald move straightaway to the middleweight division to avoid having to fight him?

This time MacDonald perhaps shed a little light on the subject, with all the Irish fans cheering wildly behind his every word.

"From what we've talked about, he's not coming back for the belt," MacDonald said. "He's coming back for the odd fight that interests him. If...if he comes back."

Here the arena erupted, as it felt like a positive indication that the 34-year-old St-Pierre would indeed be coming back.

"Okay, keep it in your pants," MacDonald said. He then reverted back to what he was saying earlier about being (mostly) in the dark on the matter.

"I don't know if he's coming back," he added. "But as far as I know, if he does I think he's more interested in superfights and whatnot."
