Abdul-Kerim Edilov faces Francimar Barroso in UFC debut

Jason da Silva-USA TODAY Sports

Abdul-Kerim Edilov, the cousin of Chechen president Ramzan Kadyrov, has a date and an opponent for his first UFC fight.

Riding a 10-fight winning streak with 10 first-round stoppages, Edilov is scheduled to face Nova Uniao light heavyweight Francimar Barroso at UFC Fight Night 81 on Jan. 17 in Boston, MMAFighting.com has learned from sources close to the situation.

Edilov (16-4) only went the distance twice in his MMA career, scoring eight knockouts and seven submissions during his five-year run as a mixed martial artist in Russia. Four of Edilov’s past five opponents were Brazilians, and all lost inside the first half of the opening round.

Barroso (17-4), another Brazilian in Edilov’s way, is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Ryan Jimmo in May. A former Shooto Brazil champion, "Bodao" holds a 2-1 UFC record, with a decision loss to Hans Stringer sandwiched by wins over Jimmo and Ednaldo Oliveira.

UFC Fight Night 81 airs live on Fox Sports 1 and features a bantamweight title bout between T.J. Dillashaw and Dominick Cruz in the main event.
