Lorenz Larkin vs. Albert Tumenov slated for UFC 195

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

A ferocious welterweight contest was announced Thursday, as surging strikers Lorenz Larkin and Albert Tumenov have agreed to fight on Jan. 2 at UFC 195 in Las Vegas, NV.

Combined, Larkin and Tumenov have finished five of their last six victories by KO/TKO, garnering three post-fight performance bonuses in the process.

A one-time struggling middleweight, Larkin (16-4, 1 NC) has reinvigorated his UFC career with a sensational run at 170 pounds. Larkin blitzed through John Howard in less than three minutes in his divisional debut, then wilted Santiago Ponzinibbio under a hailstorm of second-round strikes in UFC Fight Night 70's 'Fight of the Night.'

The 29-year-old Larkin also holds notable victories over UFC light heavyweight Gian Villante and current UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, though the former victory was contested at 205 pounds and the latter victory was contested at middleweight.

Tumenov (16-2), likewise, has proven himself to be one of the division's most ruthless and efficient prospects since debuting in the UFC in 2014. The 23-year-old Russian has racked up four consecutive victories inside the Octagon, including a trio of vicious first-round knockouts over Anthony Lapsley, Matt Dwyer, and Alan Jouban.

The Jouban victory, staged this past October at UFC 192, earned Tumenov his first 'Performance of the Night' honors.

UFC 195 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler defends his belt against former interim champion Carlos Condit in the night's main event. The main card airs live on pay-per-view.
