Morning Report: Anthony Johnson calls out Ryan Bader, slams him over his resume

Esther Lin, MMA Fighting

A lot can change in a week.

After light heavyweight contender Ryan Bader scored a unanimous decision over Rashad Evans Oct. 3 at UFC 192, Anthony Johnson's manager Glenn Robinson said "Rumble" wanted the next crack.

Johnson surprisingly took a little umbrage with the report, but a week removed he's apparently reevaluated the prospect of knocking Bader out of his 5-0 win streak.

Taking to Facebook Wednesday, Johnson laid into Bader over his resume and challenged him not to "run and hide."

Just read that Ryan Bader said he's the number one contender. Well, imo, he isn't by any means. How can a true athlete...

Bader has been campaigning to face light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier since "DC" won the vacant title by submitting Johnson at UFC 187 in May. Passed over in favor of Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192, Bader is forced to sit in limbo as the promotion decides the fate of former champion Jon Jones.

UFC president Dana White said in May that Jones would get the immediate title shot once he returns from suspension, setting up the very bankable rematch between he and Cormier. If and likely when that happens, fighting the No. 1 ranked Johnson may be Bader's (No. 3) best move.
