With five wins in his last six fights heading into Saturday night, UFC 183 was Al Iaquinta's opportunity to make his statement on the big stage.
And boy, did he capitalize on that opportunity. The Serra-Longo fighter from Wantagh, N.Y., known as "Ragin' Al" scored the biggest victory of his career, as he picked apart veteran Joe Lauzon and finished him in the second round of their lightweight fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
"I'm calm, cool, collected, not going crazy, picking my shots," said Iaquinta, whose victory came at 2:34 of the second round.

The opening round was a coin flip of a decision, as both fighters had their moments in a round which was engaged all over the cage and went to the ground and back.
Iaquinta, the TUF 15 finalist, however, took control in round two and started to find a home with a wide variety of punches. Lauzon was essentially out on his feet, perhaps too tough for his own good, and the bout was finally waved off.
"If I stay calm, I can do that all night," Iaquinta (10-4-1) said.
Lauzon (24-10) had a two-fight win streak snapped.
