UFC 183 live blog: Joe Lauzon vs. Al Iaquinta

This is the UFC 183 live blog for Joe Lauzon vs. Al Iaquinta, a lightweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Lauzon, who has won three of his past five fights, will face Iaquinta, who has won four of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Marc Goddard the referee. They touch gloves. Iaquinta tries to grab Lauzon's leg early, but lets it go. He dekes for a single again, but doesn't pull the trigger. Iaquint now working the jab. Lauzon with a fluid combo, and now Lauzon pressing forward after a body shot, and Iaquinta was getting tagged. Now they break, and reset. Iaquinta stands in pocket and swings, and Lauzon breezes by with a right. Iaquinta standing in a side stance and threatening to kick, but doesn't, and Lauzon blasts throw a leg kick. Good left hand from Iaquinta. Now a body kick and a volley up top, which Lauzon blocks by covering up. Straight jab once, twice from Lauzon. Iaquinta with his hands low, eats those and another. Swift combo though from Iaquinta, who comes in with two punches up top to inside leg kick. Lauzon presses forward and lands two big right hands in the exchange. Again, Iaquinta was reeling for a quick second. Now Iaquinta backs around the cage and looks for his opening. Lauzon's punching has been crisper. Quick lead jab and cross from Lauzon. And now Lauzon snatches Iaquinta's neck and tries for a guillotine, dragging him to the ground. Can't get it, and Iaquinta back up. A series of body blows from Iaquinta, and that was nice. High kick from Iaquinta grazes Lauzon, who is starting to show some swelling on his face. Now Iaquinta flies in for a takedown late, and they end up pressing on fence. Close, close round. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Lauzon, 10-9.

Round 2: They touch gloves again, and Iaquinta circles. He comes in low with a punch and then moves in again with a pawing combo. Another right hand to Lauzon's body, but a nice right counter from the Mass. native. Big swinging uppercut doesn't land flush for Lauzon. Now Iaquinta comes in with a high kick, can't get it home. Lauzon moves forward again and he's still landing that left jab with frequency. Push kick from Iaquinta lands well, and an uppercut follows. They stand in the pocket at middle and cancel each other with short punches. Now it's Lauzon shooting for a single leg, but he can't get it as Iaquinta spins away. Body shot from Iaquinta. Iaquinta circles and lands a couple of nice body shots. Now he lands a huge right hand straight through the defense of Lauzon's arms that drops Lauzon! Now he's coming to life, and he's methodically throwing to end this thing. Hammerfists as Iaquinta follows Lauzon to the ground. Iaquinta is pursuing Lauzon around the cage, and Lauzon has no idea where he is. He's staggering around. Another shot, and another, Iaquinta coolly picking apart the veteran with calculated punches. And finally Goddard steps in! It's over. Iaquinta is for real. What a TKO.
