UFC 183 live blog: Thales Leites vs. Tim Boetsch

This is the UFC 183 live blog for Thales Leites vs. Tim Boetsch, a middleweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Leites, who has won seven straight fights, will face Boetsch, who has won two of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: John McCarthy is the ref. They touch them up. Leites moves in and now Boetsch with a kick. They tie up at center and clinch, and a brief exchange leads to Leites peeling out of there. Now Boetsch comes in again, and it looks like he got poked in the eye. They are back, and a big exchange again. That time Boetsch took the brunt of things. Back to center. Right hand from Leites, and then a left hand. Leg kick from Leitis, who is gearing up for big right hand. Before he can deploy, Boetsch with a big uppercut. That landed. They go to fence and again have quick skirmish there. Leg kick from Boetsch. Here comes Boetsch pushing forward winging punches, and Leites puts the clops on him with a right hand that stops him in his tracks. Leities regroups and sets back up. Boetsch walks forward, totally poised. Lead elbow from Leites with a right follow-up, and now they clinch. Leites slams Boetsch up on fence and tries to take him down. Succeeds about 60 percent, but Boetsch right back up. Right cross from Boetsch, and right after a right hand from Leities he lands a series of big shots! That rocks Leites, and he ends up on the ground. Boetsch follows and is trying to punish him, but is pulled in close from side control. It was a big right hand, then a lunging left and another right that did the damage. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Boetsch, 10-9.

Round 2: They touch gloves again. Solid first round. Leg kick from Leites, and then comes in with another. The first one looked like it hurt Boetsch a bit. Uppercut misses from Leites, but then he slams home a left hook. Big right hand now from Boetsch, and that sends Leites to the fence. Boetsch pursues. Now they spin off and back to center. Leites moves forward cautiously, and for good reason as Boetsch ducks down and whaps him with a right hand. Now Boetsch bullzdozes the Brazilian to the fence, and on the break Leites lands a nice right hand as a parting shot. Leg kick from Leites is checked. Now Boetsch is opening up! Big shot staggers Leites, and another. He goes backwards as Boetsch comes in. As he pursues him there, it's Leites who reverses the action and puts Boetsch on his back. He's stretching him out and looking for a submission. Arm triangle...but Boetsch is able to slip out! Wow. At least momentarily, and now he reapplies that arm triangle from the other side, and this time it's deep! That's it. Boetsch is out. McCarthy pries Leites off the unconscious Boetsch. Crazy end there after Boetsch was controlling the action.
