UFC 182 live blog: Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Louis Gaudinot

This is the UFC 182 live blog for Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Louis Gaudinot, a flyweight bout at Saturday night's UFC event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night

Horiguchi, who has won eight straight fights, will face Gaudinot, who is fighting for the first time since he failed a post-fight drug test, on the main card.

Round 1: Herb Dean is the third man for this flyweight bout. Gaudinot with the familiar green hair. They touch them up. It's Horiguchi standing in the center, and Gaudinot circling. A little size up moment here, as neither guy quick to pull the trigger. Leg kick from Gaudinot. He storms forward, but doesn't throw. Horiguchi  eats another leg kick and buckles for a moment. Gaudinot is flickering around, and trying to find a spot to move in. Horiguchi stands his ground and hits Gaudinot with a counter right. Now he comes in with a flying knee, but it doesn't connect. Big swing and a miss from Horiguchi. But he's throwing now, and he tries a knee which catches forearms. Nice push kick lands from Horiguchi. Gaudinot moves in from center and they plant and trade, just grazing punches. But there's a nice sally from Gaudinot, as he works a lunging combination and landed well. Straight right hand from Horiguchi gets home, and Gaudinot wheels out. A lot of movement from Gaudinot, who is coming back from that long suspension. Left jab from Horiguchi. And a leg kick again from Gaudinot makes a very loud slap. Now Horiguchi ties him up and pushes Gaudinot to the fence, and after toiling there lifts him off his feet and drops him to the canvas. Right back up is Gaudinot, as the round ends. MMA Fighting scores R1 for Horiguchi, 10-9.

Round 2: Nice pace to start the second, as both men are now coming in and throwing. After exchange, Gaudinot grabs Horiguchi and gives him a ride along fence, trying for a submission. Horiguchi fights out of it. Nice spinning kick there from Gaudinot. Here comes Horiguchi with a high kick, that one slaps home on Gaudinot's chest. A mouse forming on Gaudinot's eye. He's still the aggressor for many of the trades. He comes forward there, but Horiguchi thinks better of it and spin away. And again. Nice, lethal combination from Horiguchi, and then he follows that up with a second combo on fence, and Gaudinot took the brunt of what he threw. Gaudinot has red welt on his back, as he comes in for high kick. He eats a couple of big counters from Horiguchi, who is patiently beginning to roll offensively. Just as Gaudinot covers up, Horiguchi slams a high kick across his forearms. Big takedown there at the end of the round for Horiguchi, who ends the round on top of Gaudinot. Round 3: Gaudinot pacing back and forth as the round starts. He's performing well, especially for such a sizable underdog, but I think he's losing. High kick from Horiguchi lands, and Gaudinot counters low. Horiguchi sticking and moving as Gaudinot pursues him around the cage. Solid left hand there from the Japanese fighter, but now he eats a good shot for this effort. A lot of skirmishes in the middle, but mostly two-shot throws and the repositioning. Horiguchi over the top with a right hand, and that lands. Gaudinot audibly throwing the leg kicks still, and they are landing, but not doing enough to shake Horiguchi from getting off punches inside. Most exchanges now are initiated by Gaudinot, but he's taking the damage. Horiguchi picking his shots well. He comes in with an uppercut to high kick. Now Gaudinot goes for standing guillotine, of which Horiguchi easily slips out from. Horiguchi posts Gaudinot on fence, and is trying to take him down. Crowd voices displeasure with the stalemate that ensues, so Horiguchi breaks. Huge spinning backfist comes up empty from Gaudinot, who tumbles to the ground with his momentum. He gets back up, and they clinch. A couple of parting shots there, but nothing landing as bell rings. MMA Fighting scores R3 for Horiguchi, 10-9 (30-27 overall).
